An American man has been arrested for allegedly selling merchandise with Tokyo 2020 Olympics campaign logo.
The U.S. citizen, who was living in southwestern Japan, has been arrested for trademark infringement. He is being charged with the unauthorized use of a 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics logo, according to the Japanese police, after having sold five items, including mugs and smartphone cases, bearing the Tokyo 2020 logo.
The total value of the sold items was a mere ¥6,540 (about $65,-), but police believe the 53-year-old man made at least ¥200,000 by selling more than 200 items online since September 2013.
The American simply stated that he did not know that authorization by the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games was necessary to use the logo.
